Pray BOLD Prayers

And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness. Acts 4:31

One of my favorite Francis Chan quotes is, "Simon says, 'Pat your head,' we pat our heads. Jesus says 'Go therefore and make disciples,' we memorize that verse." How true it is that the comforts of our lives has brought us to this place. With everything going on in the world around us we have silenced our relationship with Jesus in a lot of ways in hopes that silent love would leave people un-offended in a world where everyone takes offense. We have walked away from praying bold prayers. Why? There are probably a lot of reasons, but one of the biggest is fear. It's terrifying to pray bold prayers. Are we willing to be obedient? Are we willing to get uncomfortable? Are we willing to surrender? Are we willing to not care about what people think of us? Are we willing to let God come into our lives and take away everything that's keeping us from Him? These are all questions we're faced with when we're convicted to pray bold prayers. I think about Peter and John in Acts 4 and their boldness for Jesus and their bold prayers. Their boldness cost them a lot more than our daily lives do. Their prayer in Acts 4:28-30 was for more boldness. Can you imagine how our cities, families, and our personal lives would change if we prayed more bold, scary prayers? What would happen if we spent more time praying for God's will to be done than praying for our long list of requests? Can you imagine the lives that would be forever changed by the grace of God if we stopped simply memorizing the great commission, but prayed bold scary prayers that had us walking it out? We cry out for revival without realizing it starts with us. Will you pray for God to remove everything that's keeping you from Him? Will you pray for boldness? Will you walk away from the comforts of home to tell the world about Jesus? We pray that your love for God will grow deeper than it ever has before. We pray that you would pray bold prayers. We pray that God rids everything that's keeping you from Him. As you spend time with Jesus this week may your boldness make you run after God's will with everything you've got so that others have the opportunity to hear of His love and salvation.
