Guatemala - Week 3
The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. 2 Peter 3:9
We have now been in Guatemala for three weeks and it is still nothing like we thought it would be. Every time we think we start to have somewhat of a schedule our day turns completely upside down. While difficult at times we have learned that it is just part of the adventure. Harry has turned into the neighborhood bus driver as he drops 11 students off and picks them up from school every day. All the students live around our house, so we have gotten to know them over the last three weeks. It has been raining almost 24/7 so they have greatly appreciated the warm, dry bus ride. Things have slowed down a little bit the last few days as the alternator on the van broke. Praise the Lord the rental company covered the complete cost and we are now back on the road! We got a few tuk tuk rides in over the last few days while the van was in the shop. Those rides are always memorable. haha! We hosted our first small group at our house last week with a total of 14 adults and children attending. Six of them knew nothing about Jesus or the Bible. Please pray that they all come back next week. We meet Monday nights at 6pm (CST) if you would like to be praying while we meet! One of the family's we have been loving on over the last year called the other day to tell us that the youngest daughter was bitten by something. At this point we're thinking maybe a tarantula. Many of you may have seen the picture on facebook. She was in the hospital for three days and then sent home only to get worse. When we went to visit she was in horrible pain and it was clear the infection was getting worse. We took her to a private clinic and got some different medicine. Praise the Lord she is healing and doing so much better!! The first night when we went to visit them before we took them to the clinic we were able to pray over the little girl and her family. The whole family including the little girl decided to repent of their sins and accept the free gift of salvation that only Jesus can give. Praise the Lord for His grace! We are settled into our home and very thankful and blessed for all the Lord has allowed us to be a part of thus far. Please continue to pray for us daily. For daily updates make sure you are following us on Facebook. We hope to do another Facebook Live soon. Pray the rain slows down a little bit so we can start construction on the Rescue Center! Thank you for your prayers and partnership as we seek the Lord and follow where He leads. God bless you and your family abundantly. Serving Him Together, Harry & Shelly
Our car in the shop. Praise the Lord we were able to tell there was a problem before it broke down on us. We were in another town and knew we shouldn't turn the car off. We made it back to Poptún, pulled into the shop, and it was dead. We are so thankful we made it back to a safe place.
We were able to buy four food bags this past week for family's in need. Thank you for helping us meet this need!
Our new Bible study group! We somehow fit 14 people in our living room. We may need to get more seats for next week.
The family of sick little Daniella giving their lives to the Lord!
Daniella was in so much pain that night we went to visit her. We are so thankful for our Healer!
We are extremely thankful for friends that fix things....like our hot water. haha!
