Thankful for His plan

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my

ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so

are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Isaiah 55:8-9

We are thankful to say we have survived our first five weeks in Guatemala! It's been more challenging than we ever imagined, but we are starting to feel like we are somewhat getting a handle on all the new things. If that's really ever possible. We have somewhat gotten used to the dogs and roosters singing all night, our rock hard bed, the ants and spiders all throughout the house, the never-ending question of, "Do we have water today?" Yet, we are still adjusting to the open door policy in the Latin American culture. We have quickly learned that even if no one is at your house when you start making dinner you need to plan on feeding at least ten anyway, because by the time dinner is ready the house will be full. Each and every day I thank God that His plan is not my plan. As I look at the months before we left Jacksonville and look where we are now I realize that not one single thing has gone the way we thought it would, the way we wanted it to, or the way we had it planned out. Not one single thing. I am so thankful that God's ways are higher than our ways and that His thoughts are not our thoughts. I may not understand HIs plan. I may question His plan a lot. I may not like the way some things work out. But, I know without a shadow of a doubt that I can trust my Heavenly Father and that His plan is truly perfect! As I look back over the last few months I see that He has orchestrated every tiniest detail in ways I never could have imagined. All for our good and His glory. And we stand here today thankful. We are thankful for this season and the adventure of each and every day. We continue to host Monday night Bible study in our home and usually have about 20 people each week. This past Monday Harry had the children pray over one of the boys in our group who has been in a wheelchair for the last year. (Picture below) It is such a blessing to have everyone over each week as we eat, fellowship, pray, worship, and dig into the Word together. We have people from all walks of life and religious backgrounds. Every time we meet the Holy Spirit shows up. We are excited to see what He will do in and through this group of people. As you know, one of the main reasons for being here for three months was to start construction on the Rescue Center. We have been delayed almost two months now due to rain. The amount of rain we have been having for this time of year is very uncommon. Thankfully over the last week things have started to dry up. We are hoping to break ground either next week or the first week of March. Please pray that the ground would dry up quickly. Please pray for our four workers and their families. Please pray that we would have wisdom. Please pray over the precious children, women, and families in need that we will be serving in this building. Please pray that God would be glorified. Praise God for His provision that has been supplied and His provision that is to come. Thank you for sending us, praying for us, loving us, and sowing into what God is doing here in Guatemala. We cannot do this without you. Please continue to pray that the Lord would give us wisdom as we seek His heart and plan for our time here. Serving Him Together, Harry & Shelly
